Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired?
I understand. I see that you’re fed up with being continuously overlooked for promotions that you believe will catapult you into breaking that glass ceiling.
You’re feeling like your seat at the Boardroom table is a placeholder that “checks the box” on your Company’s EEOC requirements.
The real truth is that you need your lucrative salary from your boring and stressful job to pay the bills even though you dread going into the office every day.
You let other folks’ idea of a good job determine your career choices and you’re stressed the F&$% out because ev’rybody’s got an opinion!
How do I know?! Because, Gurllllllll, I’ve been there…done that — and then some!
I was bringing home a nice piece of change that allowed me to live in an affluent neighborhood as a single-Mom and homeowner while driving a luxury vehicle. I enjoyed my diverse and challenging corporate job but then...life happened. My daughter went off to college…I no longer was THE “Plus 1” in a relationship, and I resented folks telling me to check my attitude. I started feeling like a “has been” with an “Angry Black Woman” attitude. (Little did I know I was menopausal!)
Subconsciously, I began to dim my light.
I considered quitting but I was encouraged by some family members not to “cut off my nose to spite my face.” So I stayed…adjusted my attitude…even though my job no longer excited me.
I tried faking the funk while appeasing others just so I could be accepted and included.
Every day, when I looked in the mirror, I noticed the real me was fading away. My vibrancy was getting lost. I felt as if I was faking it and I definitely wasn’t making it. I felt like my identity was being stolen — in an environment that didn’t seem to give a rat’s a$$ about my historical contributions.
As time went on, I was subconsciously hiding my uniqueness and choosing NOT to show up 100% in the workplace AND in my relationships.
Those behaviors and beliefs were keeping me from living my best authentic and vibrant life.
Can you relate?
HAS ANY OF THAT WORKED FOR YOU?
I saw this happening not only to me but other Black female colleagues for whom cultural assimilation was a corporate criterion for success. In actuality, it fostered a compromising cultural representation and a decline in their quality of life.
THAT’S why I started working to help other Black Women live their best life.
I firmly believe that you have the undeniable right to discover, embrace, and fully express your unique talents, skills, and vibrant personality without judgment, retaliation, or marginalization by others. But it’s up to you to take action.
Let’s take a look at what life will be like if you do nothing and keep the status quo.
If you don’t take action and fix things…
